Our mission is to provide community-based, state of the art fitness facilities for the physically challenged at an affordable cost. Our brand-new facility is located in Lawndale, CA, at the crossroads of Hawthorne, Redondo Beach, Torrance and Lawndale. Our center is strategically located 1 mile off of the 405 Freeway for ease of access and accessible to community activities for our clients.
NextStep Fitness serves the Los Angeles County, Southern California physically challenged adult community through the creation and support of specially designed, equipped and staffed fitness & wellness facilities. The focus of the facility will be on continued wellness for individuals post discharge from a formal rehabilitation center.
At NextStep Fitness, our primary goals are to:
NextStep, in partnership with the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation's NeuroRecovery Network, is proud to be one of two community based settings to offer Locomotor Training in the country. Using a body-weight supported treadmill and manual assistance this type of cutting-edge intervention has emerged as having the greatest potential to help those with gait impairments enhance their locomotor skills and potential walking ability.
Our trained staff will strive to improve the overall wellness of our clients, ensuring that their safety and physical wellbeing are joint goals. Unfortunately, this is a population that is underserved with so few options for continued physical activity post a hospital or rehabilitation setting.
In order to be able to fulfill our mission, which demands we deliver our services at an affordable cost, we need to reach out to members of our community who are in a position to make that happen. The majority of our clients rely on family members and charitable donations to support themselves financially. They also generally require a higher level of income to support themselves than non-disabled people do. We recognize this and figure that in to our membership costs. We currently charge our clients a fraction of what it actually costs us to have them as members in order to make it as affordable to them as we can. Our overhead is extremely low as the only paid staff are those who are hands-on and we have an extremely low marketing budget.
NextStep Fitness opened its doors to serve the community on May 12, 2008, made possible by generous donations from members of the community and in intellectual partnership with the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation's NeuroRecovery Network. NextStep Fitness will be able to continue to offer its unique services to the community through direct contributions from individual donors, corporations and foundations such as you. We encourage all potential donors, of any contribution size, to come see the facility in action and witness your donation put to great use. You will be forever changed by coming in to the facility and seeing and speaking with some of our clients and staff. While this might not be a charity you ever thought of, once you speak to them, it will become a mission you will never forget.
Sponsoring NextStep is a perfect opportunity to make a tax-deductible donation, show your community you care about all its members and help make a difference in peoples lives.
